The Blue Willow china dinnerware and tea ware design has been in constant production for over 200 years with most of the UK Potteries at some stage making their own version. It is said that at around 1790 Thomas Minton inspired by an even older design from China introduced Blue Willow to the UK market. Certainly the East is very evident with the romantic design of pagodas bridges and the magical oriental theme. The Churchill Blue Willow tableware version is made in their factory in Stoke-on-Trent and remains faithful to the original design. It should therefore as near as possible match most other earthenware versions made by the Potteries over the years. Shapes may vary. Whilst Blue has always been the best selling Willow design some factories created other colours notably Pink Green and least commonly Brown. Blue Willow is a true icon of the China and Glass industry and this crockery is still widely used in many kitchens and dining rooms throughout the World.
