Electro-Harmonix Pico Deep Freeze Sound Retainer / Sustainer Expanded freeze effect in the smallest housing format! The “Pico Deep Freeze” sound retainer is a mixture of the original “Freeze” and “Superego” pedals. With the ability to freeze a moment in sound the “Deep Freeze” can serve as a sustain pedal for holding chords and notes to support your playing or as a platform for manipulating your tone into new sounds that are impossible with a normal guitar. In addition to the capabilities of the original Freeze the “Deep Freeze” offers layering adjustable attack/decay speeds glissando dedicated volume controls and 3 modes: Latch Moment and Auto making it a powerful pedal that punches well above its weight.The “Deep Freeze” allows you to instantly freeze sounds in three operating modes. Latch mode freezes the sound every time the footswitch is pressed until the effect is bypassed while Moment mode only freezes the sound as long as the footswitch is held down. In Auto mode the sound is automatically frozen as soon as a signal above the threshold is detected so there is virtually no need to press the footswitch. These three modes make it easy to operate the Deep Freeze to suit any playing style and you can use the controls on the Deep Freeze to further customise the way the effect works. The separate DRY and EFFECT volume controls allow you to mix signals from subtle backing to 100% effect experiments. GLISS controls the morph time between the freeze sounds creating unreal soundscapes. The SPEED/LAYER control determines either the attack/decay time of the effect in Moment and Auto modes or the amount of possible overlays in Latch mode which allows you to play impossible chords! – ultra-compact pico housing.
