Design Anna Castelli Ferrieri for Kartell Through innovation technology and 11 of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals Kartell seeks to develop products that reduce its carbon footprint and protect the environment. The company calls it “Kartell Loves the Planet.” That innovation means that today Kartell can unveil Componibili Bio. The symbolic storage furniture which for the past 50 years has been produced in plastic now comes in a bioplastic made from agricultural waste. Agricultural waste cannot be used as food for humans or animals so nothing is lost. By using microorganisms Kartell transforms the waste into a plastic-like biomass that can be refined and made into a high-quality material. The functionality and strong construction remain unchanged and Componibili is the same beloved piece of furniture it has always been – but now you can invite the shelving unit into your interior design with a clear conscience.
