The Leupold BX-1 McKenzie HD 10×50 Binoculars trades field of view 263′ at 1000 yds vs. 304′ at 1000 yds with the 10×42 in exchange for nearer close focus 8.2′ vs. 9.8′ and 42% better low light performance. The McKenzie HD 10×50 employs Leupold’s Advanced Optical System to improve light transmission clarity and contrast. It is waterproof nitrogen purged and fairly lightweight for a 50mm binocular. Previous McKenzie binoculars had eyecups that were permanently attached and had to be sent in for repair. The HD model has removable eyecups that can be replaced in the field if they get damaged.
