The Woo Audio WA7 “Fireflies” Amp/DAC is a combination of a high-performance headphone amplifier and an integrated USB DAC. It is a pure tube design with 6C45 class A tubes a single-ended topology and transformer-coupled outputs. No semiconductors were used in the entire amplification path. The D/A converter is designed for sampling rates of up to 24 bits/384 K. This ensures pure data integrity transmitted via a standard high-speed USB 2.0 interface in asynchronous mode. High-quality design elements include a pair of nickel-core output transformers a screwless aluminium enclosure that is visible from any viewing angle a remote linear external power supply for the amplification circuitry a custom toroidal transformer and military-grade multilayer PCBs. A dedicated port for in-ear monitors has comprehensive volume controls to keep noise to a minimum. Despite its extremely small size Fireflies are a true powerhouse capable of powering almost any demanding audiophile headphone. Fireflies can also be used as a stand-alone DA converter to meet various system deployment requirements.
